Growth Ecosystem

The fastest-growing businesses in the world have a Growth ecosystem. Does yours?

In recent years, startups have stood out for their ability to grow exponentially in a short time. Many of these companies, such as Uber, Airbnb, and WhatsApp, achieved that success by adopting the Growth methodology.

Unfortunately, few business owners know what the Growth methodology is, since it is still relatively new in Brazil. The sooner you understand it and put it into practice, the more opportunities you will have to ride this wave and achieve exponential growth in your business.

At its core, Growth is essentially based on constant testing and experimentation to find the best ways to acquire, retain, and monetize customers. The major startups that grew rapidly adopted this methodology and had a dedicated Growth team using data and metrics to test hypotheses and find growth opportunities.

The biggest mistake companies make today is testing too little, drawing premature conclusions, and developing large projects without first understanding, from the customer's perspective, how much value those projects will generate. In addition, they miss significant growth opportunities by being locked into bureaucratic and slow processes.

One of the greatest Growth cases is WhatsApp, which transformed global communication with its solution. Initially, Jan Koum, founder of the company, created WhatsApp as a contact list that displayed the status of each person next to their names. So how did WhatsApp become a giant? Jan knew that his greatest opportunity lay in scale, in reaching the masses. To do that, he needed to make WhatsApp easily accessible even while maintaining a partnership with Apple. They designed the application not only for smartphones, but for all mobile phones, including those running older operating systems. After many tests, experiments, and optimizations, they understood they had a growth opportunity by offering message delivery at a lower cost than SMS, which was paid at the time. After confirming that this generated value for their customers, they expanded the company. More people discovered the application and recommended it to others. They focused on word-of-mouth referrals. Based on that approach, WhatsApp grew rapidly, gaining popularity around the world.

This is just one success case. Major companies that grew rapidly, such as Uber, Spotify, LinkedIn, and Airbnb, used the Growth methodology as a fundamental piece of their success, allowing them to grow exponentially through constant testing and marketing efficiency. Companies that adopt this approach are able to learn from their mistakes and make adjustments quickly, allowing them to adapt to the needs of their users and the market while rapidly becoming leaders in their industries.
