Have you ever stopped to think about how many opportunities you have let slip by because you thought they were a trend or a passing fad? Or how many times, like Gabriel Medina, you were prepared, but the wave simply never came? In surfing, the absence of waves is a matter of luck; in business, it is often a matter of timing and strategy.
Now, a new massive wave is forming on the horizon: artificial intelligence (AI). The question that remains is: are you ready to ride this wave, or will you let it pass? There is no point in entering the business sea too late, because you may end up alone with no chance to thrive.
Gabriel Medina, considered one of the best surfers in the world, lost the chance to compete for the gold medal because the ocean did not cooperate. He had skill, experience, everything he needed, except the right wave.
Now, think about your company. The market is constantly changing, and AI represents one of those waves that, if not taken advantage of, can completely change the game, for better or for worse.
Let us be direct: how many times have you heard about AI in recent months? Probably many. But the issue is not just hearing about it, it is acting. Many business leaders are still on the sidelines, watching, hesitating, and while they do that, others are already riding this wave, dominating the market, innovating, and, more importantly, securing their place in the future.
The reality is that AI is not a passing trend. It is already transforming entire industries, and those who do not prepare now may end up like the surfer who misses the best wave of the day, or worse, the only one. Being technically prepared and understanding the applications of AI in your business is essential, but that alone is not enough. You need to act, and act fast. Because by the time you finally decide you are ready, it may be too late, and the sea may have no more waves to ride.
But if you think you are prepared and riding the right wave, are you really? Or better yet, do you know what it means to be prepared to ride this wave? For some, AI still seems distant, complicated, accessible only to technology giants. However, that perception is dangerous. The accessibility of AI is growing, and companies of all sizes can already benefit from its applications. The real question is: are you seeking to understand how AI can help your business grow, innovate, and stand out? Have you been looking for knowledge only in the news, or have you been testing the various AI applications in your company in practice? Have you set goals and built labs to evaluate the multiple options AI brings?
Even more importantly, are you willing to risk taking a fall and taking time to ride this wave? Because, yes, just as in surfing, catching a big wave involves risk. Maybe you will not get it right on the first attempt. Maybe implementing AI in your company will be challenging. But the alternative, standing still, waiting for the sea to change on its own, or for another wave to appear, can be far more risky. In the near future, failing to adapt may mean falling behind, watching your competitors dominate the market while you struggle to recover lost time.
What is stopping you from diving headfirst into this wave right now? Fear? Lack of knowledge? Or perhaps the false sense of security that the market is not ready yet? The truth is that the wave is already forming, and those who hesitate may end up watching from the outside while others ride it all the way to shore.
Finally, ask yourself: where do I want to be when the tide turns? Waiting for the next wave, or leading the next major innovation in my sector? The choice is yours. But remember, waves in the business world, just as in surfing, wait for no one. Prepare, act, and above all, seek help if you need it. No one is born knowing how to surf.
